My Promise to Every Paw I Hold

At Doggy Oasis & Grooming Spa, I believe every dog deserves patience, understanding, and unwavering care. With a life long passion for dogs and 12 years of dedication and obsession to all things dogs.

I’ve learned that trust is the foundation of a truly happy dog grooming experience. I understand that new environments can be daunting for dogs, and I'm here to ensure your dog feels safe, loved, and respected every step of the way. I care more deeply than words can express for every dog I meet. Your dogs comfort is my top priority.

My Journey - Rooted in deep care

My journey into professional dog grooming began with my 'Baby Bear' a.k.a. Teddy - The cute guy taking a lay down break on the sidewalk.

After Teddy suffered multiple injuries at grooming salons - two of which were not even disclosed to me when I picked him up – I reached my breaking point. Sadly, one injury required stitches. I couldn't bear to see him hurt again, so I decided to create the safe and compassionate alternative he deserves.

What started as a promise to Teddy almost a decade ago has grown into a career-long commitment to excellence and is now a promise to you and your dog to provide the very best care.

I’ve earned my Professional Dog Grooming Certificate and Dog Training certificate, completed a rigorous mentorship, and I always stay current on Pet First Aid.

Dog grooming isn't just my business and it isnt just haircuts; It’s my way of making a difference in peoples lives and dogs lives everyday by ensuring no other pet parent feels the way I did, and no other dog feels unsafe like Teddy did.

The Importance of Understanding Every Dog's Unique Language

Dog Grooming is at least 70% Dog Training!

Early in my career, I realized that successful dog grooming is rooted in communication. I truly believe that if you can't understand and train a dog then you have no business grooming them.

What happens to a dog while at the dog groomer will impact that dog and its family for life - I take that responsibility very seriously.

To better serve my four-legged clients, I earned my Dog Behavior and Training Modification Certificate (DBTMc) from the Edmonton Humane Society 7 years ago. My Force-Free style of dog training is the foundation of everything I do.

My science based philosophy - Empathy builds trust
I believe there are no "bad" dogs - Only misunderstood dogs. When a dog reacts "poorly", they aren't being "bad" or "aggressive"—they are expressing discomfort or fear.

It's scientifically proven that a dog's brain is equivalent to a 2-2.5 year old child's, meaning their 'bad' behavior is usually just a toddler-style meltdown. They aren't trying to be difficult; they’re just struggling to process a big, scary world and cant tell us in words what's going on.

Scaring a dog into doing what you need them to do only deepens the fear they are feeling, their trauma, and the worst part is it teaches them to suppress the "warnings" (like growling & snapping) that they use to communicate to us before they reach the last step in their ladder of communication - biting - to make you go away and make the scary end.

Listening Instead of Reacting
I strongly believe that no dog wants to hurt anyone - They just want to be heard.
Dogs may growl, snap, or even bite - The majority of the time these behaviors are a cry for help rooted in fear. My goal is to listen to what your dog is telling me. I help nervous dogs build genuine confidence and trust in me and in the dog grooming process.
We can’t expect dogs to navigate a human world perfectly without guidance - That is unreasonable and would be setting them up to fail. It is my job to bridge that gap with patience and empathy.

Setting A New Standard For Dog Grooming

Doggy Oasis & Grooming Spa was born from a simple mission – to provide the gold standard of care I would expect for my own fur-babies.

If your dog is scared or struggling for parts of grooming, I will never withhold that information and tell you "they did great" and send you on your way - to avoid a difficult conversation that I know will benefit your dog and you. I’m a firm believer in full transparency because it’s the only way we can truly support your dogs well-being.

My role is to be your dogs voice - They can't tell you how their groom went - That's my job! My goal is to always give you a clear and honest picture of how their session went—even the tricky parts—so we can work together as a team. I want to do my best to ensure your dog feels safe and understood.

Here, you'll find a safe, judgment-free sanctuary where your pet's comfort and well-being always come first. I believe in quality care over volume, which is why I never overbook or double book. This ensures that every dog receives my undivided attention and gentle touch, without ever being rushed.

For me, it’s about more than just a haircut. It's about building a foundation of trust, making dogs feel safe, providing peace of mind, and empowering you with the grooming knowledge to benefit your dog, and all your dogs to come, for a lifetime!

I am truly blessed to get to build the trust of dogs and dog owners everyday. It is an honor to be trusted with your furry family members. Thank you 🫶
